DAVID OLNEY and DAniel seymour

David Olney is our Kerouac...our Charles Bukowski. A modern day 'beat poet' with a flashlight on to social darkness. His lyrics can be cryptic, like all great poets, full of sublime meaning or leaving the listener meandering through a damp fog. Of course this takes on a whole new vibe when Dan Seymour is chugging the upright bass to accentuate the rhyme and reason. This music is brilliant on so many levels not the least of which is pure, naked honesty...Olney is an American treasure and the list of great artists who have taken to his prose reads like a "Who's Who"...the song 'Big Top Tornado' is a fabulous piece of work and a great example of Olney's vivid style.

The song "Situation" reads like a guy who's working the late shift at the power plant and calls the boss just before the whole thing erupts...that's how it reads. How you hear it depends on your ability to dig between the lines and find your own definition of "We've got a situation..." We've got one and there's a lot of smoke and flame at the bottom of it. David Olney with Daniel Seymour. A song about the silliness of walls and fences...and their misguided place in our world. "Running From Love" was written years ago but still finds meaning, new found meaning, in today's chaotic society.
