THE WILLIE J. LAWS BAND

Willie J. Laws comes from a long line of significant American music lineage including his uncle, jazz master Ronnie Laws...you can always tell a musician who grew up around great musicians. He's surrounded himself with a host of incredible players for this performance including keyboardist Bruce Mattson, bass prodigy Ksenia Vasileva and drummer Ephraim Lowell who sat in for the night on short notice to replace the great Osi Brathwaite. 'Love Letters' is an original from the Texas born-now Boston resident blues master and highlights the groove laid down by this powerhouse quartet.

'Good Blood After Bad" is a social commentary at 120 mph...It's a familiar place we find ourselves in with the deterioration of race relations in this world and 'Good Blood After Bad' was written by keyboard master Bruce Mattson just to remind us to keep working at it. the rhythm section of Ksenia Vasileva bass and Ephraim Lowell drums is firing on all eight cylinders while Willie J Laws and Mattson trade electrifying leads on guitar and Hammond organ. This song makes you think on the second listen...on the first you just watch the playing in amazement.
